On May 9th, 2013, Friddle Dentistry held a sealant and fluoride day in their school-based dental clinic, located within a local middle school in Lavaca, Arkansas. The event was titled “Cavity Free Lavaca”, and aimed to provide preventative oral care for the first grade students of Lavaca. Prior to the clinic, each child was sent home with a permission slip and information which informed parents as to the importance of being proactive in preventing cavities, as well as the need for restorative treatment. Each participating child was screened, and sealants were performed as well as fluoride treatments. One dentist, two hygienists, and four assistants were able to complete twenty nine sealants as part of this program.
