Ladera Dentistry Spreading Free Smiles with Dentistry From The Heart

On November 11, 2013, Veterans Day, a small 3 chair dental office wanted to spread FREE SMILES to the community in and around Ladera Ranch.  Dr. Mai Ly, DDS and 5 other dentist and an Oral Surgeon from Las Vegas saw over 75 patients.  4 out of the 6 dentist that day were sisters, a brother in law and a colleague of Dr. Mai.  The Oral Surgeon is one of Dr. Mai’s good friend that flew in just for the event.

The first patient stated that he got his foam mat and slept in from of the office at 2am.  He has been to multiple of these events before and knows that they get busy and the line starts early.   This patient traveled all the way from Cypress and was able to get 3 procedures done because he waited around all day for his turn.

There was a girl and her sister that needed their wisdom teeth extracted and waited around all day to get one pulled at a time.  They were so grateful and now can concentrate on other teeth that need dental work.  One of them wrote an email to thank Ladera Dentistry and team for being so kind to have such an event.

We did about 30 fillings, 25 cleanings, and extracted about 20 teeth, including impacted wisdom teeth.  The Oral Surgeon was busy removing wisdom teeth along with teaching the other dentists tips on how to extract teeth.  This was a great learning experience for the other dentist along with 2 UCLA dental students that drove down on their day off to watch an Oral Surgeon work.

We would not have has such a great outcome with out the supplies that Henry Schein Cares donated.  Everything from disposable mirrors, tongue depressors, patient bibs, gloves, masks, toothbrushes, tooth paste, fluoride, hand sanitizer, flash lights, and T-shirts. We are forever grateful for all the donations and will continue to have such an event with Dentistry From The Heart annually to help out our community.
