Lakota Sioux, The Navajo Tribal River Reservation, and Honduras

Lakota Sioux Cheyenne River Reservation:

Two dental hygiene faculty and three dental hygiene students of Tunxis Community College in Farmington, CT delivered 800 educational programs on oral health, as well as provided 550 screenings and fluoride varnish applications to the Lakota Tribe in South Dakota. The dental hygiene group provided over $31,000 worth of services and dental products.

The Navajo Tribal River Reservation:

A group of three second year dental hygiene students and three faculty provided screenings, oral health instruction, toothbrushes, and fluoride varnish to over 700 students in the Navajo Tribal River Reservation. Additionally, 400 sealants were placed. The dental hygiene group provided over $44,000 worth of services and dental products.

Honduras:

A group of two second-year dental hygiene students and one Tunxis Dental Hygiene faculty treated over 200 clients: providing oral prophylaxis, periodontal scaling, fluoride varnishes, oral hygiene instruction, and toothbrushes.
