Pa-O Tribe in Myanmar

Shanta Foundation, based in Durango, CO works with the Pa-O ethnic tribe in Myanmar to support good health, education, economic development and infrastructure improvements.  Three volunteer dentists from Yangon traveled to eight remote mountain villages in the Shan State to provide 505 children free dental care from Jan. 26 – Feb 2, 2013.

Shanta’s Dental Program  provides the first dental care any of our village children or their parents have ever received.  This program is in memory and recognition of Durango, CO dentist Tom Grams, for his commitment to the needs of the world’s poorest.

Tom Grams, DDS, was the first dentist to provide care to these Pa-O villages in 2007 and was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2010 while providing dental care in remote villages.

Much thanks to the Henry Schein Cares Foundation for providing dental supplies to Shanta Foundation for this clinic.
